2024  The price has been sharply increased by the manufacturer due to rise in cost price.

Shinonome was made by top-notch craftsmen in Tokyo, JAPAN.
This Shinobue is a type called "Uta" which is properly tuned to the western scale, and is usually played as either a solo instrument or in an ensemble.
 
The price of Shinonome is much lower than the market price due to some scratches, peeling and discoloration on the surface of the bamboo.
These do not affect the tone quality. Cashew paint. Suitable for western tuning, G. Ornament specifications are fixed.

I only recently purchased this. and i have fell in love with how it sounds compared to my other shinobue. Although mine has some pretty heavy discolouration on the bamboo. as it is purely a cosmetic thing i actually like it due to it feeling more unique in it's look. If you're used to playing some of the high tuned ones such as an 8 or 6, and are looking for a more mellow tone, i highly recommend this, also thanks to mejiro for the fast and efficient overseas shipping
