About the maker:
Tom Deaver passed away in 2010, is said to be the first foreigner to make shakuhachi professionally.
He was a student of Tamai Chikusen, who produced many famous shakuhachi makers such as Shinzan, and lived in Nagano Prefecture for a long time to manufacture authentic shakuhachi.
This bamboo still plays excellently!
